Darfur

Since 2003, hundreds of thousands of Sudanese have been killed in the Darfur region of Sudan. This conflict has also driven another 2.2 million people, the majority of them women and children, into crowded camps that are scattered in arid areas with low fuelwood productivity. Venturing outside these boundaries in search of fuel to cook their meals often ends in violence against camp inhabitants. Many people don't know about Darfur, a region in western Sudan, or about the conflict. There are politics involved and controversy about who is right and who is wrong. But whatever the facts and propaganda about the conflict, the fact is a lot of people are displaced, they are struggling for life's basics and the women and children are suffering greatly.
